When I finally realised I was bi, I started researching. What I found is that there is incredible diversity in the way bisexuality is experienced, and the only valid label is a self-label. Some bisexuals are monogamous, some are polyamorous, some are celibate. Everyone has a different experience, a different way of coping, and a different way of doing justice to who they really are.
Many homosexuals who have had (and may again have) opposite --- experiences refuse to label themselves bisexual, and many heterosexuals, who have had (and may again have) same --- experiences also refuse to label themselves bisexual. Consequently, although both these groups' behaviour might classify them as bisexual, bisexuality gets once again shoved under the carpet.
So the question of bisexuality can be answered in at least 2 ways: identification, and behaviourally.
Identification basis makes about 3% of the population bisexual. Behavioural makes about 75-80% of the population bisexual
