In support of equality The obvious answer is that the person who one loves transcends the limitations imposed by a classification as male or female. In addition however, I feel there is something in the actual characteristics of making love to a male or to a female that makes each experience inextricable from each other. I think I'm referring to a feeling where the physical characteristics of a person allow, in its specificity, the experience of a more general s----lity which is ignorant of relations of active or passive, inside and outside, and which enables the two parties to be engaged in a process which disavows learned differences between their ways of being. In other words, I feel he acknowledgment of the irrelevance of gender allows the union between individuals to bypass feelings of difference which, in unisexual relationships, requires the acceptance of fixed understandings of each other which, in my experience, results in emotional confusion and unnecessary pain as he relationship becomes ingrained into more and more aspects of the individuals lives.
